Profulla Chandra (P.C.) Sarker is a renowned academic and expert in social work, anthropology, and social development with an illustrious career spanning over four decades. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from Ranchi University, India, and an M.Phil. in Sociology from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Dr. Sarker has served in various prestigious roles, including Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Dhaka and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the European University of Bangladesh.
His academic interests cover a broad range of social issues, including gender violence, reproductive health, social structure, community development, and poverty alleviation. Dr. Sarker has supervised 28 Ph.D. and 5 M.Phil. dissertations, demonstrating his commitment to mentoring and advancing knowledge in his fields of expertise.
In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Sarker has served as a consultant for international organizations such as USAID, UNICEF, WHO, and the Ford Foundation. He has also been an active contributor to research, having led over 25 major research projects and published extensively on topics like gender inequality, human trafficking, and social care in Asia.
With a career that includes leadership roles in both national and international academic institutions, P.C. Sarker has made significant contributions to the development of social policies and practices that have impacted communities in Bangladesh and beyond.
