Dr. Md. Iqbal Hossain is a distinguished expert in the field of nutrition and child health, with over three decades of experience in clinical research and public health. He is currently a Consultant in the Nutrition & Research Division at icddr,b and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the James P. Grant School of Public Health at BRAC University. Dr. Hossain holds a PhD in Nutrition from the University of California, Davis, with a subspecialty in International and Community Nutrition, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in Glasgow.
Dr. Hossain has made significant contributions to the management and treatment of child malnutrition, particularly in Bangladesh, where he has led numerous research projects aimed at addressing severe acute malnutrition and diarrheal diseases. He has been involved in developing national guidelines and training modules for the management of malnutrition and has received multiple honors, including the prestigious International Healthcare Award in 2016 for his work in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition.
With a prolific record of published research and active participation in international conferences, Dr. Hossain has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of child malnutrition, improving clinical practices, and shaping public health policy in low- and middle-income countries.
